Ego Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
High Vibe Studio Inc. ("we", "us") makes Ego, an app that runs on your Mac. This policy explains what Ego does with your information.
The short version
- Ego runs on your Mac. Your account tokens, messages and settings are stored there, not with us.
- We don't run servers that receive your data, and Ego sends us nothing about you: no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports. It only asks our website whether a newer version of Ego exists.
- Polar, the company that sells Ego subscriptions for us, handles your payment. Ego checks your subscription with Polar, and Polar tells us who subscribed — nothing from your accounts.
- Ego gives the AI assistant you connect it to, such as Claude, the data that assistant asks for. What happens to it there is governed by that assistant's provider.
What Ego accesses
Only the services you connect, and only to provide Ego's features.
- Gmail and Google Calendar. After you sign in with Google, Ego reads your mail, marks it read, labels and archives it, writes drafts, sends mail if you turn sending on, and reads your calendar's busy times. It asks Google for these permissions:
gmail.modify,calendar.freebusyand your email address. - Signal. Ego links to your account as a companion device, like Signal Desktop, and stores the messages that arrive after linking in a database on your Mac; history starts when you link. Ego sends a message only if you turn sending on. Ego does not download photos, video, audio or files; it keeps a note such as "(image)" and any caption.
- Notion. Ego creates a page with a Tasks database under the page you choose, and reads and writes tasks there.
- Claude Desktop and Claude Code. When you press Connect, Ego adds itself to their configuration files on your Mac and installs a skill there.
Where it is stored
In Ego's folder on your Mac, ~/Library/Application Support/Ego, which only your user account can read. Ego does not upload this folder anywhere.
Who receives it
- Your AI assistant. When you ask your assistant something, it calls Ego's tools and Ego returns the results — such as email threads, messages or tasks — to the assistant. If your assistant is Claude, Anthropic receives that data under its own terms and privacy policy. You and your assistant decide what it asks for.
- The services themselves. To act for you, Ego talks directly to Google, Notion and Signal. When you ask to unsubscribe from a mailing list, Ego contacts the unsubscribe address the sender published.
- Polar, our reseller. When you subscribe, Polar Software, Inc. collects your name, email address and payment details under its own privacy policy. To confirm your subscription, Ego sends Polar your license key from your Mac a few times a day, and your email address when you sign in. Polar shares your subscription record with us: name, email address, plan, country and payment status.
- Us: nothing from your accounts. Apart from that subscription record, we don't receive, sell, rent or share your data, and we don't use it for advertising or to train AI models.
Google user data
Ego's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Ego uses Google data only to provide the features you see in Ego and in the assistant you connect it to; transfers it only to that assistant, at your request; does not use it for advertising; does not use it to develop, improve or train AI or machine-learning models; and no person at High Vibe Studio reads it.
ego.highvibe.studio
Our website uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. When you connect Notion, Notion returns you through this website: code running in your browser passes Notion's one-time authorization code on to Ego on your Mac. That request reaches our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services, like any page request; we have not enabled access logs, so we keep no record of it.
Updates
Ego keeps itself up to date. About once an hour it asks ego.highvibe.studio whether a newer version exists; when one does, Ego downloads it from there and installs it. Each check is an ordinary web request that carries only the version of Ego and of its updater and, like any request, your IP address to our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services. It carries nothing from your accounts or messages, and we have not enabled access logs, so we keep no record of it. Every update is signed by us, and Ego installs only an update whose signature it can verify.
Your choices
- Disconnect any account in Ego, and turn sending on or off for each service at any time.
- To remove everything Ego stored, quit Ego and delete its folder.
- Revoke access at the source: your Google Account's third-party connections, Notion's Connections settings, and the Linked devices list in Signal on your phone.
Security
Ego stores tokens in files only your user account can read. Its local interface listens only on your own Mac and requires a secret key. No system is perfectly secure, so protect your Mac's user account.
Children
Ego is not for children under 13, or under the minimum age for these services in your country.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and Ego will ask you to accept material changes before you continue.
